Meet the savvy Sonal Chauhan who takes her first step in Sandalwood, with her debut Kannada film opposite Shivrajkumar

Not camera shy, Sonal Chauhan was first seen on screen in Himesh Reshammiya’s album. This young lass also modelled for various ramp shows as well as commercials. Her first film debut was with Mukesh Bhatt’s Jannat opposite Emraan Hashmi. She later played a lead role in the Telugu film Rainbow. Sonal is now starring opposite Shivrajkumar and shooting with him for the Kannada film Cheluveye Ninna Nodalu, due to release this year. She’s also familiarising herself with the language.

Sonal Chauhan — the model-turned-actress who made her debut in Bollywood with Jannat — is on cloud nine these days.

The actress has been signed on by veteran painter MF Hussain’s son Owais Hussain for his directorial debut tentatively titled Punjab 69. The film — a fairy tale of sorts set in modern times — has Anurag Sinha of Black and White fame playing Sonal’s love interest, revealed an insider.

A source said, “Sonal is very excited about this film. She found Owais very creative and was looking forward to working with him ever since she read the script.”

Actress Sonal Chauhan, who starred alongside Emraan Hashmi in “Jannat”, is on a roll. She will shoot at the Seven Wonders of the World for a song worth Rs.6 million.

The song will be for a Kannada film “Cheluvine Ninna Nodalu” and she has teamed up with southern actor Shivrajkumar in it.

“I am more excited than nervous. I will have to do tonnes of rehearsals. The most exciting part of it all was shooting this song with the superstar himself – Shivrajkumar. He is absolutely amazing to work with,” Sonal said.

Shivrajkumar-Sonal Chauhan starrer Cheluvine Ninna Nodalu has completed  nearly 50%of the shooting; recently the climax song was shot at Chancery Pavilion under dance choreographer Imran Sardaria. All the important actors in the film (Shivrajkumar, Sonal Chowhan, Tharun, Venkatesh Prasad, Dattanna, Vinayaprasad, Chitra Shenoy, Doddanna, Sangeetha and  Shanthamma along with a Russain ballet troupe and 40 African dancers) took part in the filming; the song was shot at a cost of Rs. 60 lakhs.
