The pretty Sonal Chauhan who made her debut with Emraan Hashmi in Jannat says beginning her career with a hit film made all the difference for her.

Though she has been away from Bollywood for two years, working in a South film, she was never away from the industry as such.

Actress Sonal Chauhan was denied recognition in Tollywood. After her debut film ‘Rainbow’ she did not perform in any of the Telugu films. This Delhi lass acted in a Bollywood film ‘Jannat’ and a Kannada flick ‘Cheluve Ninne Nodalu’. During her participation in the South Scope Cine Awards event she spoke to the reporters.

She said, “I’m glad to be in Hyderabad after a brief gap. I’m off the Telugu audience due to the lack of offers in Telugu films. I’m apt for youth oriented love stories and I reject the roles that demand exposing to a large extent. Though I was not recognized through the film ‘Rainbow’ I’ve learnt a lot through the film. Currently I’m acting in a Bollywood film directed by MF Hussain’s son and two other films.”

It was meant to just an ordinary ad for SRK but it was a big day for our Bollywood starlet Sonal Chauhan — the dusky beauty who was last seen in Jannat opposite Emraan Hashmi.

The moment the ad was aired, Sonal’s online pages are flooded with compliments from the audience.

“The kind of response which I have been getting for the ad is superb. We shot the ad 25 days back and I had a great time in shooting for the ad,” says the beautiful actress.

It has been over two years that Sonal Chauhan debut in Jannat. The film became one of the biggest hits of that year but the actress never seemed to have capitalized on that. She is yet to be seen by the Hindi audience again though she did a couple of South Indian films.

However Sonal says she is confident that she has not lost out on anything and when she returns with her next film the audience will know it was worth wait. “I don’t think people will be disappointed when they see me again,” she says. Sonal will be next seen in MF Hussain’s son’s Owais Hussain’s movie.

Sonal Chauhan — the model-turned-actress who made her debut in Bollywood with Jannat — is on cloud nine these days.

The actress has been signed on by veteran painter MF Hussain’s son Owais Hussain for his directorial debut tentatively titled Punjab 69. The film — a fairy tale of sorts set in modern times — has Anurag Sinha of Black and White fame playing Sonal’s love interest, revealed an insider.

A source said, “Sonal is very excited about this film. She found Owais very creative and was looking forward to working with him ever since she read the script.”
