‘If not for Jannat, I would have been a struggler even now’

Sonal Chauhan is better known as the Jannat girl, thanks to her debut film’s huge success and her great pairing with the film’s hero, Emraan Hashmi.
The actress has been quite busy post the film’s release last year. She tells Nithya Ramani where she’s been and what she’s up to. Read on:
Where have you been after Jannat?
I have been shooting for my next film with M F Husain. It is directed by his son Owais. I’m also shooting for a Kannada film.
How has Jannat changed your life?
Life has become really good. I am one of the few actors who get a superhit in their first movie. I hope people like me more than they did in Jannat. After Jannat, people started calling me Zoya [the name of her character] instead of Sonal. It feels nice when people say they’ve watched the film more than twice just for me.
If not for Jannat, I would have been a struggler even now. I am looking at big banner films too. There are offers coming in but I can’t talk about them until they’re finalised.
